About Rebekah

About me, the artist…

I am lucky enough to live in the heart of North Yorkshire and spend as much of my spare time in the Outer Hebrides with my georgous dog Hatch and my hubby, Lee.

I draw my inspiration from these wonderful places focussing on land, coast and wildlife. I explore less tangible aspects such as movement, sound, weather, texture and mark making.

Working in mixed media, predominantly; acrylic, inks, watercolour, pencil & collage, I love to experiment and explore materials, using them in non traditional ways and to their full potential.

My art takes an illustrative form, working mainly from sketchbook, memories and imagination and I would describe my artwork as ‘Folk Art’ (with a Yorkshire twist) a genre which embraces a naive style, decoration and an interpretation of form and perspective.
